Tidings of Comfort and Joy

This week, our class has been sharing Christmas traditions and special memories that make this time of the year a joyous occasion. We started out at Megan Gannon's post on LiveScience.com: https://www.livescience.com/42091-first-Christmas-card-history.html

We talked about the history of Christmas cards and the messages they were meant to convey.

We discussed the things that we were most proud of having accomplished this past year. For some, it was graduating from school or gaining a license while for others, it was beginning to learn English. We moved on to talk about the things that made us the happiest. These invariably included time with family, food and relaxation. Sometimes, a trip to sunny climes and an adventure with new foods was a part of that story. Our goals for the following year included academic as well as personal goals with more time spent at home, sharing meals and family time. Plans for the holidays always included meals and family time. I am sensing a theme here; how about you?

Lala and I decided to have our photos taken to commemorate our first Christmas together. In a rush to get to the dog groomer's, I locked my keys in the car and reacquainted myself with the joys of CAA. I also discovered a quaint little chocolate shop with the best mocha latte I've had in a long time. Stay tuned for that article; it was too sweet not to share. Locking the keys in my car made that all possible, so I'm getting into the spirit of things and seeing "what's new" around me.

Lala and I have been writing children's stories

and travelling around the surrounding neighbourhoods, getting to know the Niagara region. We've been trying different foods and finding cosy little shopping hideaways tucked into wine country, always looking around the next corner to see what else we could discover.

We've been getting ready for the season by

setting up our tree, putting up Lala's first stocking and making the office a little more festive with candy canes, poinsettias and fresh greenery. The family is coming over for dinner soon, and we're all sharing in the joy of cooking the meal.

Please join us for the next few days as we share our hearts and traditions over this Christmas season and how we make this time of December a very merry one here, and in beautiful Asia.

Happy Christmas!
